Establishing a relationship with our dogs
We create a close relationship with our dogs based on trust and predictability — so that when they encounter new situations, they know they can rely on us to get them through it.
About True North
Growing up, my family always emphasized following your internal compass—your true north. That philosophy shaped not just my life but also the mission of True North Canine.
Our training approach is built on balance and respect for a dog's natural instincts. By nurturing trust, communication, and understanding, we help you unlock a life of ease, joy, and freedom with your canine companion.
Every family, every dog, and every journey is unique. That's why we take the time to personalize our programs to meet your specific needs, ensuring practical, sustainable results. Together, we'll create lasting changes that allow you to embrace the present and enjoy the many adventures ahead.
Training dogs for five years, full-time for the last two. We're based in Prospect Heights and every program is private and trainer-led — small and selective, trained in the coffee shops, subway cars, and open fields where Brooklyn dogs actually have to hold it together.

Our method
Three things run through every program we take on.
We create a close relationship with our dogs based on trust and predictability — so that when they encounter new situations, they know they can rely on us to get them through it.
Dogs thrive under strong, clear, and consistent leadership — the kind that leads to freedom, not restriction.
Our training approach is built on balance and respect for a dog's natural instincts, using clear communication your dog can actually act on.
Our philosophy
"Structure Creates Freedom."
